Main: International collaboration
In 1992 the Institute established the international relationships in the research and design area, and also started to sell the science-intensive products abroad.
In the research and design area the Institute carries out the contract-based activities with a number of foreign companies: Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Oak-Ridge National Laboratory (the US Department of Energy), the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, Institute for Transuranium Elements (Karlsruhe, Germany), Institute of Protection and Security of the Citizen (Ispra, Italy), etc.
The R&D efforts are concentrated in the following fields:
- Nuclear material control & accounting;
- Safety of the complex technical systems;
- Material behavior under high temperature and shock load;
- Non-proliferation of nuclear & radioactive materials.
The experts of our Institute regularly attend the international workshops and conferences to give the presentations that are much appreciated by the counterpart scientists and engineers.
