Areas of Activity and Services Provided by EMC TC
The area of activity of the EMC TC is the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing of equipment to determine immunity to natural and man-made external electromagnetic effects, such as lightning discharges, switching to open switchgear, radio communication equipment, electrostatic discharge, dynamic change of supply mains voltage and frequency, etc.; to assess the strength and voltage of industrial radio disturbance generated by equipment; to assess electromagnetic effect on the equipment functional safety influencing facility safety; to measure parameters of electromagnetic situation in premises with equipment installed, in power mains and cable communications; to identify electromagnetic radiation sources on the sites and in the region where power units are being constructed.
Since 2000, over 1250 EMC tests of equipment for technically complex systems have been carried out.

Brief Description of EMC TC
The Test Center for equipment electromagnetic compatibility, safety and immunity to external effects (the EMC TC) at VNIIA has over a decade of operational experience in certifying, testing, enhancing functional reliability, implementing instrumentation & control technologies, safety and access control systems at atomic sites (NPPs, research reactors) and nuclear facilities (storages, accelerators, test sites) in Russia, at conventional power engineering sites of Russia, checkpoints of the RF customs and border guard service, as well as the equipment supplied by Rosatom enterprises under contracts to new power plants in India, China and other countries.
Since 2000 the EMC TC has been accredited as a test center in the Certification System for equipment, products and technologies for nuclear installations, radiation sources and storage facilities (below referred to as OIT system). Since 2015, EMC Test Center has been accredited in Rosatom certification system.
Certificates and licenses
The quality management system being currently in force at VNIIA is certified by the Authority for certification of quality management systems "ATOMVOENSERT" for compliance with the requirements of GOST ISO 9001-2011 (Certificate No. ВР 23.1.6426-2013, valid through 09.06.2016). The quality management system introduced and applied while the development, manufacture, sales and maintenance of I&C equipment for industrial and power-generating facilities, including nuclear power plants, ensures services of EMC testing as well; it iscertified by TÜV SÜD Management Service Society for compliance with ISO 9001: 2008 (certificate # 12 100 22919 TMS, valid through 05.05.2016)
The EMC TC is the leading test center involved by Rosenergoatom Concern for in-situ EMC testing of safety-related equipment directly at NPP power unit sites. This demands high qualification of experts and superior quality of testing, since the test results affect safety at nuclear-hazard production. Annual and repeating orders from NPPs for testing in the framework of lifetime extension programs, upgrades and commissioning of safety-related systems are the best proof of qualification and competence of the EMC TC experts.
